Buy glasses through Vision Direct and help give sight to others
I wear glasses – without them I would have struggled to see the blackboard at school and Uni (showing my age – no fancy smartboards then), I would have struggled to get the grades that I did and the job I ultimately secured. I probably wouldn’t have been able to drive and I would have a permanent headache. I’m lucky, I can afford to buy myself glasses (and sunglasses and contact lenses) but over 300 million people world-wide can’t. But we have the power to play a part in rectifying that if we buy right.
Enter VisionDirect.com.au – an online eyewear store. I know, I know, glasses need to tried on I hear you cry. I agree, when I buy new eye glasses or sunnies I try on hundred of pairs in many shops, so purchasing my glasses online without the benefit of trying them on is scary! (Why I make sure my pair and makeup are in check before doing it I don’t know because mostly my glasses come on first thing in the morning (well before a coffee and a shower) when I am hardly at my best).
But, if I know the glasses I want – well, I would be happy to buy online.
VisionDirect.com.au is the Australian arm of the SmartBuyGlasses Optical group that, for every pair of glasses you buy, they will donate a pair of glasses to a charity who
partners with Vision Direct to help treat impaired vision in developing communities around the world. Through Unite for Sight, One Sight and Lions Recycle for Sight they have donated over $615,000 worth of prescription glasses around the world. I know companies such as TOMS and Warby Parker have a similar one for one program running (neither of which us Aussies can get involved in) – so its great to finally have an Australian company helping people around the world that are vision impaired.
Any the range of glasses available on Vision Direct are huge, all the usual top brands like Rayban, Prada, Bolle, Burberry etc etc. The prices are great and health fund rebates are available too !
